Artwork Behind Anaka: The Unwavering

In the beginning

Anaka is a Metal band from Brooklyn, New York. I was challenged to visually capture their story of duty, honor, & passion through design as they continue to "create music, destroying countless stages... and continue to build their Anaka army fan base!" This is not the first time I have collaborated with these guys so I enjoy the creative process as I learn something new on every album they have released.

Concept Sketch

Drawn into the spartan stories of honor and passion is also the same spirit that drives the dark, themed artwork for this metal album. I wanted the visuals to draw you into another world and stick with you as you learn more about the band's legacy. 

There is a track on the album called MURDER OF CROWS which the guys wanted to play a big part in the theme of this cover. The figure emerging represents the UNWAVERING spirit in all of us!

Life is all about learning so we can evolve & adapt to it, Therefore, I never consider my artwork finished. Reason why I look forward to seeing my sketches transform into the published work as time evolves. This idea & emotion is what also inspired me to capture the Album artwork & design for Anaka's "unwavering" album concept. 

Here's a time lapse video for when I created Anaka's artwork for their album Unwavering. I began by taking a high resolution scan of a preliminary sketch I drew and digitally manipulating it further to achieve the desired concept regarding Sparta and Greek mythology incorporating crows.
